Árvore da família Lauraceae, da espécie Cinnamomum camphora Nees & Eberm.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da Ásia e da Austrália e é pouco difundida no Brasil. Apresenta tronco e ramos aromáticos. As folhas são aromáticas, geralmente espessas, alternadas, oval-elípticas, acuminadas, rosadas no início do crescimento; as flores são pequenas, amarelas e reunidas em panículas axilares, o perianto é membranoso; o fruto é drupáceo. A planta se propaga por meio de estacas e por sementes. É cultivada para fins de extração de cânfora.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Asia and Australia and it is little spread over Brazil. It has aromatic trunks and aromatic branches. The leaves are aromatic, generally thick, alternate, oval-elliptic, acuminate and rosy in the beginning of the growth; the flowers are small, yellow and gathered in axillary panicles; the perianth is membranous; the fruit is drupaceous. The propagation occurs via seeds or via stakes. It is cultivated mostly aiming the extraction of camphor. Vulgarization: camphorwood, camphor laurel.
