Árvore da família Euphorbiaceae, da espécie Croton floribundus Spreng.
Nota 1 e 2: Ocorre desde o Rio de Janeiro até o Paraná e Minas Gerais, principalmente na floresta latifoliada semidecídua. Ela atinge até 10 m de altura; ramos cilíndricos e raminho ângulo-obtusos, revestidos de epiderme pardo-escura, com pelos estrelados; folhas alternas, pecioladas, estipuladas, oblongo-ovadas, agudas, subinteiras, de limbo com até 12 cm de comprimento e 6 cm de largura, escuras e com pelos estrelados na pagina superior e argento-ocraceos na inferior; as flores são monoicas, brancas e dispostas em racimos compridos, as flores femininas possuem pétalas pubescentes; o fruto é uma cápsula globosa-deprimida de 11 mm. Fornece madeira amarelada moderamente pesada, com textura média, lisa e com veios escuros, própria para obras internas e carpintaria; o cerne, escuro e rijo, é especial para esteios, postes e mourões. A casca serve para cuturme e é conhecido por ser anti-sifilitica, as folhas combatem úlceras, as flores são melíferas e o fruto é considerado tônico. A árvore é pioneira e é útil para plantios mistos em solos degradados. Floresce de outubro a dezembro e e tem frutos maduros em janeiro-fevereiro.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from Rio de Janeiro until Paraná and Minas Gerais, especially in the semidecidous broadleaf forest. It reaches up to 10 m of height; it has cylindrical branches and angular-obtuse little branches, coated with a dark-brown epidermis with starry piles. The leaves are alternate, petiolated, stipulated, oblong-ovate, and subentire, with a limbo that reaches up to 12 cm of length and 6 cm of width, dark and with starry piles in the top surface and silver-ochraceous in the bottom one. The flowers are monoic, white and disposed in lengthy racemes, the feminine flowers have pubescent petals; the fruit is a globose-depressed capsule of 11 mm. The species provides a yellowish, smooth and moderately heavy wood, which has an average texture and dark veins, it is appropriate for indoor works and carpentry. The heartwood, which is dark and wiry, is appropriate for mainstays, posts and fence posts. The bark is useful for tannery and it is known for its antisyphilitic properties, the leaves struggle ulcers, the flowers have an important role in the honey producing and the fruits are tonic. It flourishes between October and December and provides ripe fruits between January and February.
