Planta forrageira da família Poaceae, da espécie Melinis minutiflora Pal. de Beauv., das variedades Roxo, Branco, Cabelo-de-negro etc.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é originário da África Tropical. Atinge até 1 m de altura, possui colmos alongados, segmentados em nós e enternós, suas folhas possuem uma alta viscosidade. Possui um número reduzido de gemas na base da touceira, as quais brotam lentamente após o corte. Ele profere locais de temperatura mais amena e solos bem drenados, ele vegeta bem em solos pobres. Sua produção de matéria seca é baixa, quando comparada a outros capins, em mesmas condições ambientes, ele pode ser usado para fazer feno.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Tropical Asia and it reaches up to 1 m of height. Its stalks are lengthy and segmented in nodes and internodes; its leaves have a high viscosity. It has a reduced number of gems, which sprout slowly after the cutting. It prefers places with a soft temperature, well-drained soils, and it vegetates quite well in poor soils. The production of dry matter is low, when compared to other grasses, when kept in the same conditions. It can be used to produce hay.
