Planta forrageira da família Poaceae, da espécie Axonopus scoparius (Flügge) Hitch.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é nativo do continente americano, é encontrado espontaneamente desde o México até a Argentina. É perene, forma touceiras densas, de colmos eretos, de 1-1.5 m de altura, que não apresentam rizomas e, portanto, não se alastra como planta invasora. O florescimento é abundante durante o verão, mas a produção de sementes é quase nula, portanto, a multiplicação da espécie se dá por estacas ou mudas enraizadas. Sua produtividade é inferior ao do capim-elefante.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of the American continent. It is spontaneously found from Mexico to Argentina. It is perennial, it forms dense tussocks, which have erect stalks 1-1.5 m high and do not have rhizomes and, therefore, it cannot spread as an invasive plant. The flourishing is abundant during the summer, but the seed production is almost absent, and consequently, the multiplication of the species happens via stakes or via rooted seedlings. Its productivity is inferior to the the elephant-grass.
