Planta forrageira da família Poaceae, da espécie Brachiaria plantaginea (Link) Hitch.
Nota 1 e 2: Ele é originário da África Tropical e da América Tropical. Ele é anual, é entouceirado e atinge até 1 m de altura. Possui colmos decumbentes que enraízam facilmente e folhas glabras que produzem uma forragem suculenta. Ele vegeta bem em praticamente todos os tipos de solo que têm uma úmida mínima, preferindo, no entanto, solos férteis. É uma planta invasora e temida em algumas culturas. Ele produz uma forragem de boa qualidade, avidamente consumida por equinos, suíno, bovinos e galináceos. Ele floresce no final do verão e frutifica no início do outono. Em geral, produz uma grande quantidade de sementes.

Note 1 and 2: It is native of Tropical Africa and Tropical America. It is annual and found under the shape of tussocks, reaching up to 1 m of height. It has decumbent stalks that easily root and glabrous leaves that produce a succulent forage. It vegetates well in all kinds of soils that present a minimum moisture, even tough it prefers fertile soils. It is an invasive and feared plant in some crops. It produces forage with a good quality, which is broadly consumed by equines, pigs, cattle and chickens. It flourishes in the end of the summer and it fruits in the beginning of the fall. On average, it produces a large amount of seeds.
