Planta forrageira da família Poaceae, da espécie Paspalum notatum Flügge var. saurae Parodi cv. pensacola.
Nota 1 e 2: A espécie é nativa da América do Sul e das Índias Ocidentais, ela se naturalizou até o sul dos Estados Unidos. O cultivar é resultante do melhoramente do material coletado próximo da cidade de Pensacola, no golfo do México. Ele se adapta bem em solos arenosos ou argilosos e tolera solos mal-drenados, inundações temporárias e solos salinos. É resistente a geadas e se adapta às baixas temperaturas de regiões subtropicais. Apresenta crescimento tipicamente prostrado, com abundante formação de estolhos, rizomas curtos e colmos em pequenos tufos. Seu valor nutritivo é menor do que o de outros capins. Ele pode ser utilizado para atividades de pastejo ou para a produção de feno.

Note 1 and 2: The species is native of South America and the West Indies; it has naturalized itself until the south of the United States. The cultivar is an outcome of the genetical enhancement of the material collected near to the city of Pensacola, in the Gulf of Mexico. It grows well in sandy or clayey soils and it tolerates bad-drained soils, temporary floods and saline soils. It is resistant to frosts and it can grow in low temperatures of the subtropical regions. It presents a typically prostrate growth, with abundant stolon formation, short rhizomes and stalks in small tufts. Its nutritional value is lower than those of other grasses. It can be used for grazing activities or for the hay production.
