CARAIPÉ-VERDADEIRO
Nome vulgar de árvores da família Rosaceae, do gênero Licania, a única espécie de frutos édulos é Licania utilis Fritsch (L. floribunda Benth., Moquilea utilis Hook f.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre desde as Guianas até São Paulo. É grande e possui ramos jovens e pubescentes. As folhas, são alternas, simples, na maioria das vezes elípticas, coriáceas, lisas e luzentes na face dorsal, nervuras salientes na face ventral; flores dispostas em panículas terminais, pequenas, pálidas e fasciculadas. O fruto é uma drupa ovóide, com 25 mm de comprimento, comestível, mas de precária palatabilidade.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from the Guyanas to São Paulo state. It is tall and it has young and pubescent branches. The leaves are alternate, simples, commonly elliptical, coriaceous, smooth and gleaming in the back surface, protruding ribs appear in the ventral surface; the flowers are disposed in terminal panicles, small, pale and fasciculate. The fruit is an ovoid drupe, with 25 mm of length, it is edible but it has a precarious palatability.
