Árvore da família Palmae, da espécie Mauritia carana Wallace.
Nota 2: Ela é vultosa; possui estipe liso marcado por cicatrizes angulares; suas folhas são grandes, abertas em leque no ápice do tronco, o qual possui lenho duro e é empregado em construções rústicas. As flores são muito fragrantes. Os frutos são drupas globosas, de 5 cm de comprimento, comestível. A espécie ocorre na várzea firme de solo úmido.

Note 2: It is bulky, it has a smooth stipe, marked by angular scars; its leaves are big and opened in fans in the apex of the trunk, which possesses a hard wood and it is employed in rustic buildings. The flowers are very fragrant. The fruits are globose drupes, with 5 cm of length, and edible. The species grows in firm and humid floodpains.
