CARDO-ESPARRAMADO
Planta da família Cactaceae, da espécie Cereus bonplandii Parm. (Cactus bonplandii H.B.K).
Nota 1 e 2: É nativa do Paraguai, Argentina e Brasil. O caule começa ereto e depois se torna escandente sobre rochas e arbustos, ramificando-se e esparramando-se em novos crescimentos azulados ou esverdeados que, mais tarde, se tornam cinzentos. Caule 4-6 angulado, comprimido, separado por faces largas e côncavas. Com o tempo, os ângulos vão se alisando e o caule vai ficando cilíndrico. As flores surgem das aréolas laterais e medem até 25 cm, brancas e noturnas. Fruto esférico, com média de 5 cm de diâmetro, vermelho-escuro. Os frutos são comestíveis, principalmente em doce.

Note 1 and 2: It is native to Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. The stem starts as erect and later becomes scandent over rocks and shrubs, ramifying and spreading in new bluish or greenish growings, which become greyish later. Stem 4-6 angular, compressed, and separated by wide and concave faces. With time, the angles start to smooth and the stem becomes cilyndrical. The flowers arise from the lateral areoles and they reach 25 cm, they are white and nocturne. The fruit is spherical and dark-red, with, on average, 5 cm of diameter. They are edible, mainly with candies.
