CARNE-DE-VACA
Árvore da família Proteaceae, da espécie Rhopala (Roupala) elegans Schott (R. brasiliensis Klotz.).
Nota 1 e 2: Ela ocorre do Piauí até o Rio Grande do Sul. Ela é grande e pode atingir até 20 m de altura; possui ramos cilíndricos e tenuamente estriados; folhas de até 35 cm de comprimento, pecíolo cilíndrico com 5-7 cm, folíolos lanceolado-oblíquos, acuminados, serrados e falcados lateralmente. Fornece madeira vermelha, tecido resistente com manchas lisas e claras, própria para construção naval e civil, móveis de luxo, dormentes, forros, caixilhos, artesanatos, laminas faqueadas etc. É de grande duração, recebe bem o verniz e lembra a carne de vaca.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs from Piaui states until Rio Grande do Sul state. It is tall, reaching up to 20 m of height; it has cylindrical and tenuously striated branches; the leaves have until 35 cm of length, a cylindrical petiole with 5-7 cm; lanceolate-oblique, acuminate, serrated and laterally falcate leaflets. The tree provides a red wood with a resistant tissue, which has smooth and light stains. The wood is appropriate for shipbuilding, luxury furniture, railway ties, linings, frames, craftwork, slice veneers; the wood receives well the varnish and reminds cow meat.
