CAROBA-DO-MATO
Árvore da família Bignoniaceae, da espécie Jacaranda copaia Don.
Nota 1 e 2: Ocorre da Guiana até a Amazônia. Ela atinge até 30 m de altura e 60-90 cm de diâmetro; raiz roxo-escura externamente e branco-amarelada interiormente; casca grossa e cinzenta; ramos grossos e muito foliosos; folhas compostas, bipenadas, com até 1 m de comprimento; folíolos ovado-oblongos, luzidios na página superior e opacos na inferior; flores azuis, muito vistosas e dispostas em amplas panículas terminais; fruto cápsula obovoide, achatada, lenhosa de 9 cm, contendo sementes aladas. Fornece madeira branco-amarelada, leve e mole, poros visíveis, tecido uniforme, fácil de trabalhar e recebe bem os pregos, própria para armação de balsas, obras internas, forro, carpintaria, caixotaria etc.

Note 1 and 2: It grows from Guiana to Amazonia. It reaches up to 30 m of height and it has 60-90 cm of diameter. The root is externally dark-purple and internally white-yellowish. The branches are very thick and densely leafy. The leaves are compound, bipinnate, with until 1 m of length; the leaflets are oval-oblong, gleaming in the superior surface and opaque in the inferior one; the flowers are blue, very showy and disposed in broad terminal panicles; the fruit is an obovoid, flattened and woody capsule, which has 9 cm of length and contains winged seeds. The tree provides a white-yellowish wood, light and loose, with visible pores, and uniform tissue. It is easy to work with and it receveis well the nails; it is suitable for ferry frames, indoor works, lining, carpentry, boxes etc.
