Nome dado à planta trepadeira da família Acanthaceae, da espécie Thunbergia alata Bojer.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é originária da África Oriental e pode ser considerada invasora em algumas culturas, ao longo da Costa Atlântica. Produz belas flores de cor laranja com centro preto, sendo às vezes plantada como ornamental. Seus frutos são extremamente duros e possuem a estranha forma de um órgão sexual masculino. Seus ramos e folhas são reputados de valor medicinal.
A name given to a climbing plant of the family Acanthaceae, of the species Thunbergia alata Bojer.
Note 1 and 2: It is native to eastern Africa and it can be considered as an invasive plant in some crops, alongside the Atlantic Coast. It has beautiful flowers, with an orange colouration (black at the centre), being, sometimes, planted as ornamental. Its fruits are extremely hard and have the weird shape of a male sexual organ. Its branches and leaves are reputed to have medicinal value.
