Epíteto atribuído a diversas plantas (ervas ou arbustos eretos) da família Compositae, do gênero Baccharis, das espécies B. articulata Pers., B. articulata var. gaudichaudiana DC.; B. stenocephala Baker; B. trimera DC.; B. microcephala DC.; B. cylindrica Baker; B. crispa Baker; B. trimera DC.; B. polygona DC; B. pentaptera DC.; B. trimeroides Vahl; B. phyteumoides DC.
Nota 1 e 2: São encontradas majoritariamente no Rio Grande do Sul, sendo que algumas espécies também ocorrem em outros estados, vegetam em terrenos úmidos, margens de rios e pântanos. Possuem folhas rígidas, frequentemente glandulosas. O fruto é um aquênio cilíndrico. Possuem relevância medicinal, algumas espécies são febrífugas.

Note 1 and 2: They are mainly found in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, but some species can be present in other states, they grow in humid fields, riverbanks and swamps. They have hard leaves, which are frequently glandular. The fruit is a cylindrical achene. They have medical relevance and some species are febrifuge.
