Planta herbácea da família Compositae, da espécie Acanthospermum hispidium DC.
Nota 2: Ela é anual e possui aproxidamente 1 m de altura. Ela infesta lavouras anuais e perenes, sendo muito temida no algodoeiro, onde seus frutos espinhentos aderem à fibra durante a colheita, desvalorizando-a comercialmente. A planta inteira é muito empregada na terapêutica caseira.
