PALMEIRA-DOUM
Palmeira da família Palmae, da espécie Hyphaene thebaica Mart.
Nota 1 e 2: É uma espécie nativa do Egito e está presente nos oásis dos megatérmicos desertos africanos. Hyphaene é o único gênero de Palmae, cujo tronco se subdivide naturalmente em outros ramos, com folhas palmadas verde-acinzentadas e pecíolos armados de dentes pretos. Possui um espádice floral muito grosso e robusto, flores amarelas e frutos grandes medindo 8 cm de comprimento, de coloração fortemente alaranjada.

Note 1 and 2: It is a native species of Egypt and it is found in the oasis of thermal African deserts. Hyphaene is the particular genre of Palmae, whose stem subdivides naturally into other branches with fan shaped greenish black leaves and petioles with black teeth. It has a very thick and strong floral spadix, yellow flowers and big fruits with 8 cm long, of substantially orange color.
