Árvore pequena da família Celtidaceae, da espécie Trema micanta Blume (Rhamnus micranthus L.).
Nota 1 e 2: É originária da América Central e Subtropical, encontrada em todo o país. Do seu córtex são obtidas fibras muito resistentes e de fácil elaboração para cordoalhas e tecidos rústicos. As ramificações da planta são muito flexíveis e, por isso, usadas em confecção de cestos e produtos similares.
A small tree of the family Celtidaceae, of the species Trema micanta Blume (Rhamnus micranthus L.).
Note 1 and 2: It is from Central and subtropical America, and found in the whole country. From its cortex, the fibers obtained are very resistant and easy to be used to make cordages and rustic woven. Its branches are very flexible and, for this reason, they are used in the manufacturing of baskets and similar products.
