PERIQUITO-GIGANTE
Planta herbácea ereta, da família Amaranthaceae, da espécie Alternanthera dentata (Moe.) Schey.
Nota 1 e 2: É originária do Brasil. Possui 30-50 cm de altura e folhagem decorativa. Folhas ovalado-alongadas, vermelho-arroxeadas, planas, arroxeadas na face inferior, ornamentais. Inflorescências globosas, pequenas, celulósicas, verde-esbranquiçadas com flores diminutas, de importância ornamental secundária. É cultivada em grupos para efeitos de massa colorida, a pleno sol, em canteiros de terra bem estercados, permeável e mantida úmida. Sensível a baixas temperaturas. Multiplica-se facilmente por estacas, principalmente quando cortadas no final do inverno.

Note 1 and 2: It is from Brazil. It has 30-50 cm high and decorative foliage. It has oval and long leaves, red-purplish, plane and ornamental ones, purplish on the lower side. Rounded, small, and cellulosic inflorescences, green-whitish ones with small flowers, of secondary ornamental significance. It is cultivated in groups for effects of colorful masses, in full sun, in seedbeds with well-manured land, permeable and kept humid. It is sensitive to low temperatures. It is reproduced by stakes, especially when it is cut off at the end of the winter.
