Planta daninha da família Labiatae, da espécie Marsypianthes chamaedrys (Vahl) Kuntz.
Nota 1 e 2: Infestante de média importância em lavouras anuais e pastagens, principalmente na região centro-oeste do Brasil. Anual, herbácea, vilosa-pubescente, ereta ou decumbente, de 30-60 cm de altura. As folhas são consideradas pelas populações rurais como febrífugas, antiespasmódicas e carminativas quando empregadas oralmente na forma de infusão. Também é extremamente usada externamente através de banhos quentes par ao tratamento de reumatismo articular.

Note 1 and 2: It is mainly present in the center-west region of Brazil. It is annual, herbaceous, vilous-pubescent, straight or decubent, of 30-60 cm of height. It is an infestant of an average importance in annual crops and pastures. The leaves are considered by the country populations as febrifuge, antiespasmodic and carminative when taken as an infusion.It us extremely used in hot showers for the treatment of articular reumatism. Vulgarization: betony, dog’s tail, wild basil.
