Árvore da família Malvaceae, da espécie Hibiscus tiliaceus L.
Nota 1 e 2: Ocorre em toda a costa brasileira, principalmente em locais inundáveis pela maré. Pode atingir de 6 a 8 m de altura. Da casca do caule (córtex) extrai-se, com facilidade, fibra de boa qualidade que pode ser usada como fibra têxtil ou como embira ou como matéria-prima para celulose.

Note 1 and 2: It occurs in the entire brazilian coast, mainly in places flooded by the tides. It can reach from 6 to 8 m of height, from the stalk (cortex) can be extracted very easily a very good quality fiber that can be used as textile fiber, embira and raw material for cellulose.
