Nota 1 e 2: Ela se desenvolve bem em climas temperados e subtropicais de verão não muito quente. É uma das plantas aquáticas mais delicadas em cultivo, cujas folhas, mosqueadas ou variegadas, são muito atraentes e as flores, brancas e pequenas, pouco aparecem. Os frutos são relativamente grandes, comparados às folhas e às flores, porém se apresentam escondidos sob a folhagem até amadurecerem, quando caem. Na época da maturação, colhem-se antes que se abram, e se extraem as sementes. Estas têm sabor agradável e podem ser consumidas ao natural, cozidas ou assadas. São muito doces antes das cascas se tornarem duras.

Note 1 and 2: It grows well in temperate and subtropical (with a bland summer) climates. It is one of the most delicate aquatic plants in cultivation; its leaves, mottled or variegated, are very attractive and the flowers, small and white, do not appear much. The fruits are relatively big, when compared to the leaves and to the flowers, but they stay hidden by the foliage until they ripen and fell. In the maturation epoch, the fruits are harvested before their opening, and the seeds are extracted, they have a pleasant taste and they can be consumed in natura, cooked or roasted. They are very sweety before the peels get hard.
