CASTANHA-DE-ARARA
Árvore da família Euphorbiaceae, da espécie Joannesia haveoides Ducke.
Nota 1 e 2: Ela é comum na floresta amazônica, notadamente na região do Oiapoque e no médio Tapajós. Ela é grande. As flores são brancas e aromáticas. Os frutos são cápsulas globoso-reprimidas, com 14-18 cm de diâmetro, que se abrem em três partes depois de secos, cada qual possuindo uma casca lenhosa deiscente que encerra uma semente não comestível, de cuja amêndoas se obtem cerca de 50% de óleo amarelado, aromático, vômito-purgativo, até mesmo tóxico, servindo para saboaria.
