Árvore da família Rutaceae, da espécie Balfourodendron riedelianum (Engl.) Engl.
Nota 1 e 2: A zona de maior ocorrência vem a ser quase que exclusivamente o Sul do Brasil. É caducifólia com 15 a 25 m de altura e 0,30 a 0,50 m de DAP. Sua madeira pesa 0,80-0,90 g/cm³, apresentando um cerne branco-palha amarelado, escurecendo para o amarelado encardido. Seu fruto é uma sâmara indeiscente, lenhosa, da qual é quase impossível retirar a semente. Cerca de 100 g de frutos contêm perto de 250 unidades. Fornece móveis de luxo, é bastante utilizado na construção civil em vigas, caibros, tacos, rodapés e muitos outros usos. Possui um temperamento tolerante quanto à variação climática e fisiográfica das regiões onde é encontrada.

Note 1 and 2: Its area of higher incidence is almost exclusively in the South of Brazil. It is a deciduous tree with 15 to 25 cm high and 0.30 to 0.50 m of DBH (Diameter at Breast Height). Its wood weighs 0.80-0.90 g/cm³, with yellow white to straw, darkening to a grimy yellow. Its fruit is an indehiscent and woody samara, which it is almost impossible to remove the seed from it. Approximately 100 g of fruits contain about 250 units. It provides furniture to the construction industry in beams, rafters, bats, baseboards and many other applications. It has a tolerant temper related to the climatic and physiographic variation of regions where it is found.
