Objetivo
Capacitar os estudantes a compreender os conceitos básicos, limitações e características da produção animal nos trópicos com ênfase em problemas na produção de alimentos (pastagens e alimentos conservados), estresse por calor, raças e genética disponível e características dos sistemas de produção de bovinos leiteiros e de corte utilizados no Brasil.
Conteúdo
1. Plantas forrageiras utilizadas em sistemas de produção tropicais: tipos e diversidade morfológica e funcional; 2. Manejo de pastagens em sistemas tropicais: princípios básicos e conceitos; 3. Dificuldades para a conservação de alimentos em sistemas de produção tropicais; 4. Raças e programas de melhoramento nacionais; 5. Sistemas de produção de bovinos leiteiros baseados em pastagens; 6. Sistemas de produção de produção de bovinos leiteiros em confinamento; 7. Sistemas de produção de bovinos de corte em pastagens; 8. Sistemas de produção de bovinos de corte em confinamento; 9. Dificuldades para o aumento da eficiência reprodutiva de bovinos em sistemas tropicais.
