Aim and scope

The Graduate Program in Animal Science and Pastures [PPG-CAP] aims at the education and training of highly qualified professionals for undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and leadership in projects related to animal science, fostering and strengthening the theoretical basis of the graduate students' academic education. The PPG-CAP graduate program encompasses a broad range of advanced knowledge and study areas aimed at the understanding of biological phenomena and their applications in animal husbandry. The program is recognized by bringing together experts with international training in the areas of nutrition and production of ruminants and non-ruminants, breeding and molecular genetics, experimental design, genomics and biotechnology, physiology and animal reproduction systems, in addition to a nucleus in pastures and forage conservation

Main goals

The main goals of PPG-CAP include, but are not limited to, excellence in graduate education and research in the Animal Science and Pastures, both at the national and international scope, consolidating the leadership of “Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz da Universidade de São Paulo [College of Agriculture Luiz de Queiroz of University of Sao Paulo - ESALQ-USP] as a generator and disseminator of scientific knowledge and competence in the training of professionals in response to the social demand.

Accreditation

The graduate program in Animal Science and Pastures is accredited by CAPES, a governmental organization which is responsible for assessing and accrediting higher education institutions in Brazil, with a grading scale ranging 1-7, where 7 is the maximum score. In the most recent triennial assessment (2010-2012), the Animal Science and Pastures program scored 7.

Digital library of theses and dissertations

Starting 2001, Thesis and dissertations defended at the University of São Paulo are available for online browsing, reading and download. The project is associated with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), sponsored by UNESCO and provides the option of browsing the Animal Science and Pastures program catalog by thesis, dissertation, author or college.
