Master’s degrees obtained abroad may be accepted as equivalent to the Master’s degrees awarded by this university if they are granted by institutions of recognized excellence and, upon merit review, are deemed compatible with those of the University of São Paulo (USP).

In cases where the Master’s degree was obtained from an institution that demonstrably does not require the submission and defense of a dissertation, the set of documented academic activities must be evaluated on their merit in detailed reports.

The analysis of the corresponding documentation will be carried out by the Graduate Committee (CPG) where the applicant registers. The CPG will verify and record the information in the Graduate Studies system.

The equivalency of the Master's degree is valid exclusively within the University of São Paulo.

For doctoral candidates at ESALQ, the Master’s degree equivalency process must begin concurrently with the application (instructions are available on the website of the chosen graduate program > Application materials > Degree equivalency).

For all other applicants, the equivalency process must be initiated through the ESALQ Graduate Office by sending the following documents in PDF format to pg.esalq@usp.br:

• A signed request form;
• Master’s or Doctoral diploma – front and back;
• Minutes of the defense or equivalent document stating the composition of the examining committee;
• Copy of the Master’s dissertation;
• Academic transcript listing thecourses taken;
• Bachelor’s diploma – front and back.
